“Seli Ambelou” is located at an altitude of 910 m., surrounded by lofty rocky formations and has always been the natural passage towards the inner part of the Lasithi Plateau. This spot, right on the mountain’s sides, one witnesses 26 imposing, stone-built flour mills, of which, nowadays, only 7 survive in full.
A unique place, from a naturalistic point of view, with rich and rare fauna and flora. Its main trait, the hundreds of windmills, which served in pumping water to irrigate the various farms of the plains. The area is renowned for its pure farming and livestock produce.
